Lou Reed is not a famous name to many people, which is a huge disservice to one of rock and roll's most quietly influential people. Notwithstanding his solo work, the fact that he was a founding member of seminal rock band the Velvet Underground is enough to make him a legend. I do listen to mostly metal in all its permutations, "ancient" music from the medieval and renaissance periods and classical music but VU were a band I loved all through my college years and will still put on my LP of White Light/White Heat a couple times a year.
Earlier today I found out he died and just wanted to post this tribute here. A truly original man, he is a poet for the ages.
